[Black snake pic from http://oko-organic-clothing.blogspot.com] |
The other day I found a fully intact snakeskin in the bush. It was pretty neat. Above are pictures of the shed skins of a Death Adder (top), and a Black snake (bottom).
I was digging the ghostly appearance of these skins and then got lead to some thoughts. The snakes shed their skins like old lives and are reborn in a certain manner of speaking, but what is shed is only the 'ghost' image and not the real body. In the case of humans, maybe we don't just die and have our ghosts leave our bodies, maybe our ghosts die and our bodies continue, if you know what I mean. In other words, maybe our ghosts are less 'transparent' or 'insubstantial' than our bodies, and our bodies are only shadows, shades, shells, even illusions. The body is the real ghost, the ghost is the real body. Meaning as well all other creatures and things on the material plane must be subject to similar rule. Something to ponder.
