You are likely to become closer to Jesus and God by NOT going to church, by defying state order. He was a bum. Your salary is not important in terms of goodness and happiness. He taught the Kingdom of Heaven is within, not lying in corny scriptures or buildings or purses, coins, material dross. He himself said "some think, perhaps, that it is peace which I have to cast upon the world. They do no know that is is dissension which I have come to cast upon the world." He was one of the first PUNKS. He was there to stir some shit up. He was not a pansy, to spread his message he willingly faced angry mobs and eventual crucifixion rather than turn tail and run. He was more like Neo in the Matrix than some frumpy fuckhead with perfect teeth and hair and a clean fleecy robe surrounded by beams of light.
