Sure, you've heard a ton about vampires, but have you heard of a dhampir? In certain Balkan folkloric beliefs, a dhampir is a child with a vampire father and human mother. They are immune to the normal weaknesses that most vampires have (sunlight, garlic, yadda yadda) likely because of the human element in their blood, yet they have vampiric powers (the best of both worlds). They can also easily detect the presence of a vampire. Because of all this, dhampirs make excellent vampire hunters. Many would be conflicted in feeling and belief because of their mixed heritage. Perhaps a dhampir who chooses to be a vampire hunter would do so because they are psychologically 'lashing out' against their unwanted vampire blood and the fact they would feel very different and alienated from most humans. Physical characteristics of a dhampir vary, from looking like a normal person to having any combination of the following characteristics: wild unkempt appearance, pronounced nose or teeth or ears, dark wild hair, no fingernails (or even bones!), or a deep marking on the backside (almost like a birthmark or back tattoo).
